The University of Texas Permian Basin's College of Health Sciences welcomes applications for the position of Director of the Nursing Program

Salary Range
$145,000.00 depending on qualifications
Essential Functions
The Director of Nursing Program provides academic, administrative, and faculty leadership for the School of Nursing within the College of Health Sciences. Reporting to the Dean of the College of Health Sciences, the Director executes the BSN academic strategy, oversees curriculum delivery for BSN and MSN programs, ensures compliance with Texas Board of Nursing rules, accreditation standards, and applicable regulatory requirements, and maintains accountability for student outcomes including first time NCLEX pass rates, persistence, graduation rates, student satisfaction, faculty support, and faculty development. The Director supports systematic program review, continuous improvement, clinical partnerships, faculty assignments, student progression, and regional workforce alignment while working closely with faculty, students, staff, clinical partners, advisory board members, and institutional departments. The Director will not carry a teaching load exceeding Three (3) semester credit hours.
1. Ensure full compliance with the TBON Rules 214 and 215 governing professional nursing education.
2. Serve as the designated Program Administrator authorized as the primary contact for the Texas Board of Nursing.
3. Complete and submit mandatory state documentation, including the Affidavit for Graduation, NEPIS, and CANEP, by the required deadlines.
4. Manage direct oversight of the nursing unit to meet standards set by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
5. Direct the planning, implementation, evaluation, and revision of the BSN and MSN curriculum to meet evolving healthcare education and workforce demands.
6. Approve instructional staff and ensure faculty are assigned to content areas matching their clinical and professional expertise.
7. Approve and implement fair policies for the admission, progression, probation, and dismissal of nursing students.
8. Oversee the selection of appropriate clinical sites and maintain active clinical affiliation agreements.
9. Build, mentor, and support a high-performing academic team of full-time and adjunct faculty, lab staff, and experiential learning coordinators.
10. Evaluate teaching staff performance, identify progressive development needs, and maintain required evidence of faculty expertise.
11. Prepare, administer, and monitor the nursing programs' instruction resource allocations.
12. Facilitate regular faculty group sessions to encourage and communicate data-informed decisions about the program.
13. Create and maintain an active advisory board to expand clinical capacity, fulfill regional workforce needs, and maintain curriculum currency.
14. Participate and promote faculty and student engagement in community health initiatives.
15. Manage student appeals and grievances, and ensure students meet all graduation and licensure prerequisites.
16. Represent nursing interests across other institutional departments (e.g., registrar, student affairs, enrollment management).
17. Perform other duties as assigned by the college dean.
Required Qualifications
1. Masters of Science in Nursing
2. Unencumbered license to practice nursing in TX or another compact state required (or eligible for licensure)
Preferred Qualifications
1. Minimum of three years of teaching experience in a professional nursing program,
2. Minimum of three years of leadership or administrative experience in nursing education,
3. Effective verbal/written communication skills and proficiency in the English language,
4. Proven track record of building relationships with all constituents (hospitals, healthcare providers, community colleges, higher education institutions, etc.)

Schedule
Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.
Standard Working Conditions
1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
6. Standard working conditions may differ depending on department and occupation
