Salary Range
$60,000.00 depending on qualifications
Essential Functions
This full-time Visiting Lecturer position within the Department of Counseling offers the opportunity to work closely with students, faculty, and the broader mental health community to prepare the next generation of clinical mental health and school counseling professionals. The position is designed to provide dedicated clinical instruction to meet the Counseling Program's clinical requirements, including practicum clinic and field placement operations. This role includes teaching graduate-level courses under the supervision of the program's graduate faculty and overseeing the practicum clinic.
1. Teach graduate courses in the Master of Arts programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling, including field supervision as assigned under the supervision of the graduate faculty in the discipline.
2. Coordinate all practicum experiences, including direct supervision of clinical students, oversight of the practicum clinic, and ensuring compliance with ethical codes, accreditation standards, and state and federal law.
3. Recruit, train, and oversee all clinic and external site supervisors; manage placement processes, site contracts, application dead-lines, and all related documentation and correspondence under the supervision of the program coordinator.
4. Develop and maintain all clinical curriculum, orientations, publications, policies and procedures, and compliance reporting for practicum and internship in alignment with accreditation standards, program requirements, and state and national regulations.

6. Develop and implement a scholarly research agenda, including peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and pursuit of external funding and grant opportunities.
7. Engage in departmental, college, and university service, including committee participation, accreditation support, and community outreach.
8. Participate in program and curriculum development, including course and assessment revision.
9. Attend faculty meetings, convocations, commencement exercises, recruitment activities, and professional events as assigned.

Required Qualifications
1. Doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision or a closely related field; ABD will be considered with a projected date of completion of the doctoral program. A completed Master's degree will meet the minimum requirements.
2. Credentialed as a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) and/or School Counselor Certification in Texas, or eligi-bility for licensure in Texas.
3. Maintain counselor identity through active professional memberships, current credentials, and ongoing professional development, advocacy, and/or counseling practice.
4. Minimum of three (3) years of direct clinical and our school counseling experience.
5. Demonstrated experience supervising master's-level counseling students and licensed professional counselor-associates.
6. Experience managing clinical operations, documentation systems, and accreditation compliance.
7. Experience teaching graduate-level counseling courses, including online or hybrid modalities.
8. Professional membership in counseling organizations relevant to the field.
9. Ability to maintain professional licensure and liability insurance throughout employment.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Licensure and/or certification as an approved clinical supervisor or equivalent.
2. Credentials or eligibility in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and/or School Counseling.
3. Experience managing clinical operations, documentation systems, and accreditation compliance.
4. Record of community engagement, including development of clinical placement partnerships.
5. Demonstrated commitment to mentoring students from diverse, underserved, and first-generation populations.
6. Familiarity with CACREP 2024 standards and state-level licensure and certification requirements in Texas.
7. Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills in a team-based academic environment.
8. Experience with client tracking software and clinical documentation systems.

Schedule
Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Faculty hours may differ based on class schedule and department need.
Standard Working Conditions
1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
6. Standard working conditions may differ depending on department and occupation.
