As aPolice Corporal,you’llplay an essential role in this mission and be a part of our growing organization.Cleveland Clinic’s Police Department is a large department with ongoing training opportunities and opportunities tomove upthrough the ranks (Sergeant, Lieutenant, Commander, Deputy Chief and Chief of Police).

A caregiver in this position worksnights from 10:00pm to 6:30am.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Assistwith supervising an assigned platoon ordetailsof police andcivilianpersonnel.
  • Act as a senior officer in tactical situations until relieved by a higher training officer in charge.
  • Act asliaisonwith administration and local law enforcement agencies.
  • Investigate complaints from various departments.
  • Prepare reports.
  • Assistwith assigning and supervising subordinate officers on an assigned shift or specific detail.
  • Assistwith training new security officers (armed and unarmed), civilianpersonneland police officers.
  • Provide police protection and enforcement of state and local laws and hospital policies, procedures,rulesand regulations.
  • Perform general security functions for hospital property, caregivers,patients,and visitors.
  • Maintain firearm qualification standards.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of the Ohio Peace Office Training Academy (OPOTA)
  • Possess a valid Ohio driver’s license (VDL) andmaintaineligibilityforinsurability tooperateorganization vehicles for emergency purposes
  • Two years of full-time experience as a police officer including at least one year of experience in the Cleveland Clinic Police Department

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Experience within a hospital security setting

Physical Requirements:

  • Full body mobility, agility, physical strength and stamina sufficient to chase, apprehend and subdue criminal suspects, respond to crisis interventions and medical emergencies.
  • Activities may include running of approximately 300 meters, dragging loads of approximately 200 pounds.
  • Must be able to drive vehicle for up to 60 consecutive minutes.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $34.50

Maximum hourly: $47.80

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).
