As a Registered Nurse at MercyOne, you will be a collaborative member/leader of the healthcare team and is accountable for practicing both the art and science of nursing, delivering care as prescribed by the ANA Standards of Practice & Professional Performance described below. In addition, registered nurses are accountable to practice in accordance with standards established/endorsed by MercyOne leadership and by external regulators and accreditation agencies. The RN actively promotes MercyOne Nursing and the nursing profession and supports advancing practice as defined by the MercyOne Nursing Vision Statement and annual Patient Care Services goals.

SCHEDULE:

  • Full Time, 36hrs a week

  • 1800-0630, (3) 12 hr shifts per week

  • Holiday & weekend rotation

POSITION PURPOSE:

Provides and directs safe,effectiveand culturally competent care forhigh risk, critically acute patients with actual or potential life-threatening conditions.Through evidence-based practice, utilizescriticalthinkingto assess, plan, implement and evaluate outcome-based care of patients.Provides care to critically ill patients including cardiovascular and surgical patients.May assume responsibilities and accountability for assigned ECMO patients.Supervises andcoordinatescare providedto patients by the LPN, Patient CareAssistantsand other nursing team members.Facilitates communication with physicians,patientand family, otherdepartmentsand/or team members. Adheres toMercyOne'sperformance expectations and performs all defined services and other related dutiesin accordance withthe Mission,Visionand Values ofMercyOne.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions. 
  • Conductsan initialassessment to gather data.
  • Identifiespatient problems and develops them into an outcome/goal-based plan of care.
  • Implements the outcome/goal- basedplan of care.
  • Evaluates patient progress and revises the outcome/goal-based plan as needed.
  • Communicates relevant clinical information to the team tooptimizepatient outcomes/goals.
  • Demonstrates clinical competence.
  • Based on principles of growth and development, provides careappropriate tothe age-related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.
  • Collects, analyzes,interpretsand applies age-specific data.
  • Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as needed and assigned by the manager. 
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicableFederal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and proceduresin order toensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degreerequired.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Critical Care nursing experience preferred.
  • Current Iowa RNlicense or active compact RN license recognized by the state of Iowa
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.  
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire.   
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required only if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilitieswithin 12 months of hire.
  • TramaNursingCoreCourse (TNCC) within 3 months of hire.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire
  • High language, intermediate to high math, high critical thinking ability.  
  • Basic computer skills required. 
  • Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health and MercyOne.
