Trinity Health Grand Rapids- Medical Ortho Trauma Unit

Position Summary:

Oversees the shift operations of a single patient care department; supervises employees directly and is responsible forsolving most of the problems arising for assigned shift or clinical specialty. Supervises the planning,directing, and evaluating of clinical operations in collaboration with Manager and/or Clinical Service Director,including but not limited to staff development, daily staff assignment of patient care, ensuring adequate equipmentand supplies inventory control, quality assessment and improvement, customer service strategies, assistance withperformance evaluations, implementing the strategic and operational plans, and intra- and inter-departmentalcommunication as well as liaison with medical staff and sales representatives. Follows Trinity Health’s professionalnursing standards of care. Direct reports include Registered Nurses and support staff on assigned shift.

What the Clinical Supervisor will need:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).

  • Preferred: Masters in Nursing (MSN) or plan to complete Master’s degree strongly preferred.

  • Licensed Registered Nurse in state of Michigan.

  • Three years acute care nursing experience for similar patient populations.

  • Progressive experience inhealth care including involvement in direct patient care, educating staff, supervising personnel andproblem solving of unit or organizational issues.

  • Preferred: Demonstrated ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handlemultiple/changing priorities and deal with stresses associated with a patient care environment such asemergencies, time pressures, varying patient emotions/attitudes/conditions, etc.
