Position Summary:
Aetna is seeking an Executive Director, Product Strategy and Experience to lead a multi-disciplinary organization focused on identifying market opportunities, shaping differentiated product strategies, and translating innovation into growth, market impact, and compelling future experiences. This role oversees Strategic Product Development, Product Analytics, and Product Experience, turning market insights into industry-leading solutions.
The Executive Director partners closely with actuarial, sales, and enterprise leaders to evaluate market opportunities, ideate solutions, and guide development of solutions and positioning for payors, consultants, providers, and members in support of Commercial growth objectives. This leader drives future-focused growth initiatives by advancing differentiated strategies and enhancing capabilities across the Commercial Product organization—ensuring strong alignment between market insight, product innovation, and business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Overseeing Strategic Product Development, Product Analytics, and Product Experience to translate market insight into actionable product and growth strategies.
Guiding the innovation pipeline by evaluating market opportunities, defining differentiated solution concepts, and advancing industry-first offerings in support of Commercial growth objectives.
Partnering closely with actuarial and cross-functional stakeholders to assess market impact, strengthen product differentiation, and inform the development of unique guarantees and client-level reporting.
Shaping how future offerings are designed and experienced by members and informing how new solutions are positioned for payors, consultants, physician providers, and other key stakeholders.
Providing the strategic, analytical, and experience expertise that strengthens Product Management and supports the development of new solutions.
Delivering product strategy and experience perspectives in enterprise discussions to strengthen alignment, influence investment decisions, and advance future growth opportunities.
Managing product development and labor budgets to deliver new solutions within budget.
Qualifications:
The candidate will have a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, and be able to be highly productive in a dynamic, collaborative environment. This position offers broad exposure to all aspects of the company’s business, as well as significant interaction with all the business leaders. The candidate will be expected to have the following key attributes:
15+ years of leadership experience with deep functional expertise in product strategy, product innovation, product development, and cross-functional execution.
Demonstrated success leading the development of differentiated market-relevant product strategies and innovative, industry-leading solutions within a complex healthcare environment.
Demonstrated end-to-end product leadership experience spanning market opportunity identification, solution strategy, concept development, partner evaluation, and experience design.
Strong healthcare experience required, including an understanding of payors, consultants, physician providers, members, and the broader Commercial healthcare landscape.
Demonstrated success leveraging data, analytics, and market insights to inform product strategy and drive measurable business outcomes.
Proven ability to partner with actuarial, sales, and cross-functional stakeholders to inform product differentiation, guarantees, reporting, and market positioning.
Experience leading buy versus build decisions and managing strategic partner and vendor relationships in support of long-term product strategy.
Strong executive communication and influence skills, including the ability to translate complex ideas into clear product narratives, strategic recommendations, and leadership updates.
Demonstrated success leading products with measurable impact on performance, adoption, satisfaction, and overall experience outcomes.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$131,500.00 - $303,195.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
