The primary purpose of your job is to plan, organize, develop, and administer physical therapy services in accordance with current applicable Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines and regulations and established policies and procedures as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality care and safety can be maintained.
DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY: You are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Evaluates each patient and establishes treatment plans and goals in cooperation with the referring physician and patient. Directly administers treatment to patients or supervises treatments by department personnel. Reviews department policies, procedures, manuals, and job descriptions at least annually. Maintains treatment records, progress notes, and statistics as required. Represents the facility and participates in meetings as directed. Ensures Rehab receptionist receives charges for physical therapy rendered to patients. Attends and participates in workshops and seminars to remain current in the healthcare field and maintain professional status. Evaluates and treats all age groups including pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Assumes supervisory responsibilities of the Physical Therapy Manager as delegated. Maintains patient confidentiality and patient rights at all times and remains alert to patient safety. Continually monitors the condition of equipment. Communicates patient status, goals, and treatment plans with other relevant disciplines and staff members. Demonstrates competence in basic knowledge and direct clinical skills. Evaluates age-appropriate behavior, motor skills, and physiological norms. Recognizes patients’ psychological development and modifies approaches accordingly. Identifies potential lifestyle changes resulting from illness that may interfere with discharge planning and develops plans accordingly. Assesses physical and emotional dependency needs and evaluates the availability of support systems. Uses age-appropriate interview and communication techniques. Assesses patients for signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect and refers to appropriate personnel or community agencies.
Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Physical Therapist with MA license
EXPERIENCE:
• Must have, as minimum, experience as a therapist in a hospital, SNF or other related medical facility
• Must have training in rehabilitation and restorative therapy practices
