As a Cancer Research Finance Analyst, you will perform monthly expense analysis for research activity within Cancer Research, developing action plans for identified variances in collaboration with principal investigators and the research management team. In this role, you will also be responsible for budget development and negotiation as a key member of the pre-award team, supporting the preparation and negotiation of budgets for new projects. This position at Cleveland Clinic plays an essential role in advancing the organization’s mission, vision, and values by enabling data-driven decision-making, strengthening research initiatives, and ultimately contributing to improved patient care.
A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. -- 5:00 p.m.
This position is hybrid during the new-hire period and transitions to a mostly remote schedule once fully trained.
Caregivers will still be required to come on-site several times each month for various meetings and presentations.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform monthly research financial oversight and develop action plans for the variances and issues with investigators and research management.
Maintain current knowledge of research, financial policies and applications.
Monitor for compliance with policy.
Report any compliance issues to the research management team.
Provide ad hoc reports, reconcilements and schedule for management.
Responsible for budget development and oversight of research activities.
May negotiate budgets, contracts and business terms with external funding agencies.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or related field
Five years of experience in Accounting
Practical understanding of accounting and month-end closing cycle
Exceptional experience with financial accounting systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to navigate CMS website
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Proficient Excel experience
Healthcare finance experience
Scientific or healthcare background (i.e. Billing, clinical trials)
Ability to analyze complex research protocols
Strong analytical skills
Physical Requirements:
Typical physical demands include a high degree of dexterity to produce materials on a PC.
Normal or corrected vision, extensive sitting and frequent walking, occasional lifting or carrying of 5 to 15 pounds.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum Annual Salary: $57,510.00
Maximum Annual Salary: $87,697.50
