Job Description
The Pharmacy Clinical Specialist – Internal Medicine practices as a decentralized pharmacist supporting Internal Medicine services at South Pointe Hospital, with the ability to assist centralized pharmacy operations as needed. This role participates in daily multidisciplinary rounds, providing evidence-based medication recommendations and supporting safe, effective patient care. The specialist collaborates closely with providers, nursing staff, support teams, pharmacy leadership, pharmacists and technicians and contributes to learner education through precepting and other professional development activities.
A caregiver in this position worksday shifts and every 5th weekend.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Coordinate and provide pharmaceutical care for patients.
Participate in patient care rounds.
Perform pharmacotherapeutic monitoring and provision of pharmaceutical care for patients.
Provide general and patient-specific drug information.
Educate clinical pharmacists, technicians, pharmacy students, post-graduate trainees, allied health professionals,nursesand physicians in pharmacotherapy.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy
If hired for a specialty area where specialty residency training is available, then specialty residency isrequired
Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) OR eligible for reciprocation in the current state within90 daysofhire
Completion of a post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or fellowship OR completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY-1) and two years of experience as a clinical specialist or an equivalent role providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmaceutical monitoring OR four years of experience as a clinical specialist or an equivalent role providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring
For individualsrequiredto administer immunizations: current Basic Life Support (BLS)Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Crossand completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification obtained within90 daysof hire
For individualsrequiredto respond to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest events: current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Crossor certification obtained within 1 year of hire

Physical Requirements:
Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.
Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
Must have normal or corrected vision.
Must have ability toclearly communicate verbally by phone or in person
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum Annual Salary: $101,900.00
Maximum Annual Salary: $155,390.00
