We are expanding with a new, one-million-square-foot, 15-floor,state-of-the-artfacility on Cleveland Clinic Main Campus designed to elevate care for complex neurological conditions — including spine injuries, epileptic seizures, movement disorders, multiplesclerosisand stroke.
This role includes the exciting opportunityprovidecare in Cleveland Clinic Main Campus’ new NeurologicalInstitute. Thisnew, one-million-square-foot, 15-floor,state-of-the-artfacilityisdesigned to elevate care for complex neurological conditions — including spine injuries, epileptic seizures, movement disorders, multiplesclerosisand stroke.
In addition to working in the new Neurological Institute, caregivers in this role will have the opportunity to provide patient care inadditionalareas across Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, including Cardiac, Digestive Disease, Medical-Surgical and more.
Diagnostic Medical Sonographers use imaging devices that emit sound waves to createtheimage that will help physicians assess and diagnose various conditions. There aredifferent kindsof imagingdevices,this includes ultrasounds, sonograms, and echocardiograms.Generally sonographicimaging devices use a handheld probe, which is moved over the area being surveyed to create a two-dimensional or three-dimensional image. These devices can be used for therapy, diagnosis, and even to guide interventional procedures like biopsies or draining fluid collections.
Acaregiver in this positionworksdays|9:00am—9:30pm.
Acaregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform ultrasound studies (i.e.obstetrical, GYN, abdominal, retro peritoneal, small parts, pediatric, and vascular).
Consult with referring physiciansregardingpatients' medical history and selection ofappropriate proceduresand equipmentrequiredfor proper diagnosis.
Educate patientsregardingprocedures,equipmentandexamsto ensure understanding and cooperation.
Ensure patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam.
Assistwith scheduling of patients and schedule all emergency patients for diagnostic ultrasound procedures.
Monitor all appointments scheduled for ultrasound examinations.
Performpreliminary research on patients when preparations are not provided anddeterminepriority of patients based on the daily schedules.
Acquire, archive,transmitandprintimages via PACS.
Completeafter hourstransmission of images andappropriate paperwork.
Immediately report any malfunctions tohelpdesk and PACS Administrator.
Process billing via RIS.
Ensureproper function of ultrasound equipment and notifyclinical engineering of any equipment malfunctions.
Adequately supplyexam rooms with linen and related medical supplies.
Assistwith clinical instruction of ultrasound students and residents and in-service education ofcaregivers.
Assistwith orienting newcaregiversto the equipment, departmentproceduresand scanning protocols.
Demonstrate ultrasound equipment forcaregiversand visitors.
Potentially rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities,sitesand/or locations.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of an accredited school in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and in good standing
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
One year of experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
Physical Requirements:
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $33.25
Maximum hourly: $52.50
