The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) on the 7th floor provides care for patients stepped down from the ICU who still require a higher level of monitoring and support than a standard medical-surgical unit. Caregivers in this unit specialize in intermediate-level care, monitoring acutely ill patients, delivering specialized treatments and providing emotional support to aid recovery, while fostering strong connections with patients and their families. As an RN in the PCU, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

A caregiver in this role works nights from 7:00 p.m. -- 7:30 a.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide direct nursing care.

• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.

• Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.

• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.

• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.

• Educate patients and their families.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS American Red Cross certification or will obtain first year of hire

• One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal candidate include:

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing

• PCU experience
