Pharmacy Clinical Specialist - Pediatric Critical Care

Cleveland Clinic’s Inpatient Pharmacy supports distributive and clinical pharmacy services provided by staff pharmacists, clinical pharmacy specialists and pharmacy technicians, supporting 60 nursing units, 80 operating rooms, 4 PACUs, and 10 cath labs, accounting for over 1,440 inpatient beds. In this role as a Pharmacy Clinical Specilalist, you will have a focus on pediatric care, working in the PICU and PCICU.
This caregiver position follows an evening schedule, working from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with a 7-days-on, 7-days-off rotation.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Coordinate and provide pharmaceutical care for patients.
Participate in patient care rounds.
Perform pharmacotherapeutic monitoring and provision of pharmaceutical care for patients.
Provide general and patient-specific drug information.
Educate clinical pharmacists, technicians, pharmacy students, post-graduate trainees, allied health professionals, nurses and physicians in pharmacotherapy.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy
If hired for a specialty area where specialty residency training is available, then specialty residency is required
Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) OR eligible for reciprocation in the current state within 90 days of hire
Completion of a post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or fellowship OR completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY-1) and two years of experience as a clinical specialist or an equivalent role providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmaceutical monitoring OR four years of experience as a clinical specialist or an equivalent role providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring
For individuals required to administer immunizations: current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification obtained within 90 days of hire
For individuals required to respond to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest events: current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or certification obtained within 1 year of hire

Physical Requirements:
Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.
Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
Must have normal or corrected vision.
Must have ability toclearly communicate verbally by phone or in person
