The J5-3 Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit cares for post-op open heart patients after they leave the ICU and VAD patients. As an LPN on this team, you will collaborate with fellow RNs, PCNAs and ANMs to enhance the patient experience and ensure everyone feels comfortable and supported while receiving treatment. A caregiver in this position works rotating days/evenings from 7:00AM – 7:30PM and 7:00AM – 3:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Collect, document and report patient data and observations.
- Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.
- Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions.
- Perform routine laboratory tests.
- Educate patients and family members.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Graduate of an accredited Practical or Vocational Nursing Program
- Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- One year of patient care experience

Physical Requirements:
- Full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity and good eye-hand coordination
- Extensive standing and walking
- Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
- Medium Work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Physical Demand requirements in excess of those for Light Work
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
