Job Description
Our Mentor Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility offering Lake County residents enhanced access to Cleveland Clinic, one of the nation’s top healthcare systems. Mentor Hospital’s Emergency Department is a 19-bed department that provides 24/7 emergency care to diverse populations of patients. With an innovative virtual platform, the Emergency Department has a telehealth “robot” (a mobile telehealth station) to host consults for patients.
As an RN Resident, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing patients with exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills.
A caregiver in this position works7:00PM—7:30am.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
Document in patients’ medical records.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) Certification upon or within first year of hire in Critical Care, ED or Special Delivery
Completion of an ONS Chemo/Bio Course within two years of hire in units where chemo is administered
Completion of a Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC - adult) upon or within one year of hire in Dedicated Trauma Centers and ED
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Provider Status Certification through American Heart Association (AHA) within one year of hire for NICU
Cancer-specific certification or demonstrated ongoing qualifying education in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Cancer Center or Cancer Clinic and/or Chemotherapy
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon or within one year of hire in ED settings
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
